Project Management (Master International Business MIB)

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Claudia Hentschel has a very innovative approach to teach students with various background. She understands the diversity in a classroom atmosphere and adapts to it very quickly. As an international student, I am glad to have been in her class and face different techniques of learning and gain knowledge in various fields. With a business management background, I was very excited to learn certain basics in engineering methods and I am sure its going to help me in my further career opportunities.

Projectmanagement was a fascinating course and give a great insight into the subject itself

As long as the class was taught in English I would give my opinion in the language of tuition.

At the MIB program we had two course electives. One of them was Project Management and the other was Quantitative Approaches. So, I have chosen the Project Management class because I was considering it to be more practical for the professional development and for the reason that I was already familiar with MS Project.

At first my expectations from the course were that we were gonna be heavily focusing on the studies related to the software. Though with the introductory lecture I have understood that the program is likely to be totally different from what I had initially expected. The professor was very nice and helpful, though while already having some experience with studies and also work in the sphere of PM I thought that the program of the course was a bit too basic for me. Nevertheless, after a couple of lectures I got to know that the material taught to us and the methods used by the professor were very much different from those I knew. The course came to be very interesting and useful for me. I would like to emphasize that the class of Project Management was one of those classes were we were filling free to talk to the professor and to express our thoughts and opinions whatever they were (related to the discipline of course). On the top of it, Ms. Hentschel has taught me such an essential thing as how to do a proper presentation and how to successfully make my project excepted by the superiors.

After the final presentation, when each of us was given a feed back on how good/bad we were when presenting and what were our strong/weak points together with the advice on what we have to improve many students felt confused, me as well. Though, I found it very fair and handy, because not a single teacher of mine has ever done such kind of thing. Well, personally me, I have analyzed the points highlighted by the professor and as far as it was possible I have improved the things.
What is more, during the next two semesters of my studies at HTW I was continuously using the knowledge obtained during the class of PM (Even when writing and presenting my final thesis).

After finishing the whole MIB program I still think that this PM class was one of the most practical and useful ones (well personally for me – for sure).

All in all I have decided now to do more studies in Project Management field (well 1 subject can’t be enough to master in the field) and to work at the position related to PM.
