The course develops a theoretical framework for understanding and analyzing major financial problems of international companies in a market environment. The course covers basic models of corporate cash flow valuation, investment project analysis and capital structure optimization in an international context. It provides necessary knowledge in evaluating different investment and financing decisions and its influence on corporate performance and value. Financial instruments, including derivatives, that are suitable to hedge foreign currency and interest rate exposure are discussed. The course is designed to invite for open debate and emphasizes case studies, group work and interactive class discussions. A fair amount of class time is spent covering current events, trends and developments. A guest lecturer will be invited to provide further insight and to give real-world examples.
